music bleeds in grey scales
phantom whales hide
beneath unrippled surfaces
undisturbed
waiting to rise up and overturn
my sanctuary
as the phonograph scratches out
another familiar tune
sonorous and seductive
…reminding me…
and to think
that i once liked this
that you once liked me
that the world made sense
and to my surprise
the sonic
grew into an enemy
where did you go my old friend?
the bitterest hops
no longer quench my thirst

Wow… I loved this – such powerful, poignant imagery. You got a 5 from me – and I don’t often hand those out!
