I didn’t quite understand the pull of tears
from my eyes that hadn’t cried about failing
in such a long, long while.
I opened the pages of his book
and written there was almost my story:
similarly lived, told, reported.
A human who in doing
good
right
much
lost.
I identified.
Deep sorrow rumbled in my heart. He knew what I already know:
The deep propensity of pain after disconnecting
from the source of all love and light.
I, too, had searched for soul, finding her right here
deep within, buried beneath the lies of doing,
when all the while, she was just being
which was
above all
good enough
after all.

Interesting poem and nicely done. I really like the way the first half moves down towards those forceful one-syllable lines. I think I would have liked to see that repeated in the second half. The repetition in the 3-syllable lines “after all” and “above all” jarred a little for me.

Very nice. I found myself easily drawn into this poem. Has a dreamy kind of quality to it.

Good Poem. Some questions about who the “her” is in relation to the voice. The soul? A soulfully loved woman? A woman lost to death? But anyway, excellent concept; very much liked the lines “when all the while, she was just being which was above all good enough after all.”

Great poem. Isn’t it wonderful that we can realize that after all our struggles and pain, what matters most is that we can count on ourselves – and that IS good enough, after all……

Still love this poem, Judy! Great job. And I love the impact that is felt with the shortened lines in the middle and at the end.

You are such an inspiration with this poem, I felt you made it to the mountain top and didn’t stay in a valley. An explosion of realization of one’s self. Very real.

Judy,
I woke up last night and thought that I may have a start to a poem. I’ll keep working on it! Thank you for the spark!

I like this work…it is about being not doing…listening not talking…hearing that still small voice that will not clamor and compete to be heard…you’re listening! that’s a great gift, keep writing! Thank-you!
