A duel of words
with Robert Frost
already lost
for his old sword’s
mightier than
my new laptop
and so I’ll stop
ere I began.
Katherine Parker Richmond aspires to be the poet laureate of cheapskate moms. She lives in a big red ramshackle house in Ellensburg, Washington, with her husband, son, daughter and two long-suffering cats.

Just which Robert Frost poem are you dueling with? Is it this fragment of one of his poems?
“I don’t stand still and look around
On all the hills I haven’t hoed,
And shout from where I am, ‘What is it?’
No, not as there is a time talk.
I thrust my hoe in the mellow ground,
Blade-end up and five feet tall,
And plod: I go up to the stone wall
For a friendly visit.”

I enjoyed reading this poem, laconic in form but rich in content.

In that quote from Robert Frost, the fourth line should read: “***a time to talk.”
