HOW YOU WILL MEET • by R.K. Wyrick

Isolated, he will rise

at 3 a.m. and drive

through Kansas and into

an endless highway of sky,

becoming a star

in a limitless constellation,

afloat in black,

dim in thin gravity,

not quite knowing what

light to display.

He will peer

into the unwrapped cosmos

for his mirrored star

also lost in the dim distance

and there you will be,

a warm sun

light years away

waiting precisely for him,

always there, shining

to be discovered.

R.K. Wyrick is a graduate of The University of Missouri. He lives and works and consumes massive amounts of coffee in Kansas City.
