Days of rain washed sluicing
monotones, vertical film-grain
leaching hues. Fog-wrapped
trees draw grey limbs closer;
leaves shiver from wet-weight
boughs.
Drone of tyres on drowning
highway, footsteps drag in
leaf-muffled paths. Dank shrouded
wind percolates unwelcome,
seeping to flesh through wool wrapped
layers.
Dawn pales. And lifts through warmth-
tinted cirrus. Leaves are drenched with gold-
dipped light. Low-angled
beams hang rich, luxurious,
etching blades through breath-soft
mist.

This is a very November poem. And even though I live at the other end of teh world, I can relate to these vivid images. Great read Jennifer!

Very nice Jen. Good visuals and a soothing quiet feel. I’m all ready for the warm fire and hot cocoa.

Lovely images, Jen! I like the hyphenated words too.

Wonderfully evocative and rhythmic. I love the line breaks, and even the spacing of words to create a visual ‘beam’ in the last stanza. Great poem.
