The soprano’s voice
ensnares me
with chords so perfect
the hymn blurs
with sex so real
I dare not turn in my pew
to risk the illusion
destroyed
by a glance.

If you are overwhelmed with sex upon hearing a soprano sing in the pewed church, don’t blame illusion. It’s actual cause is located in your very own pew between the 12th. rib and the thigh, and not with the soprano, whether she’s a looker or not.
